Ed’s father was a Navy man, and the
family moved many times, each locale giving the future
artist a chance to experience new lifestyles. It was
during his senior year in High school that he visited
his cousin in New York City. As a professional
illustrator, his cousin exposed young Ed to the many
great galleries and museums, as a means of developing
his interest in the arts. And clearly this visit was
instrumental in shaping his future.
As a young man, Ed came out west to study
art on a scholarship at Brigham Young University in
Provo, Utah. Following college Ed achieved great success
as a Texas- Based Commercial artist working with clients
including, Exxon, American Airlines, Coca-Cola, Texas
Instruments, AT&T, and Pharmaceutical companies. In the
commercial realm Ed found that the excellent pay came at
a price, continual deadlines, and the overall pressure
served to stifle the creative process.
The day came when Ed decided to devote
his talents to fine arts, first working in portraiture
for many years with corporate and private clients. Ed
eventually moved to Arizona to pursue Western Art, and
in 2000 he joined with fellow artist Ed Copley to become
the founders of Western Artists of America. WAA is a
select group of the most talented Western Artists in the
country today, whose express purpose is to pay homage to
America’s Western heritage through an annual museum
show. The museums include: the Tucson Museum of Art in
Tucson Arizona, the Hubbard Museum of the American West
in Ruidoso, New Mexico, the Museum of Western Art in
Kerrville, Texas, and the Pearce Museum in Corsicana,
Texas just south of Dallas.
Ed’s paintings which include, landscapes,
portraits and the western genre can be found in
corporate and private collections across the United
States, Canada, Australia and Europe. He looks forward
to extending his Artistic Endeavors as one of the
co-founders of the American Society of Traditional
Artists, whose exhibits will also be hosted by museums
throughout the United States.
