BIOGRAPHY
Douglas Flynt’s (b. 1978) artistic education includes a
BFA and a BA in History and Criticism of Art from
Florida State University as well as a MFA from the New
York Academy of Art. While studying at Florida State
University he apprenticed with the vice chair of the
Portrait Society of America, Edward Jonas. Later he
studied under Jacob Collins and Michael Grimaldi at the
Water Street Atelier. In addition he has studied
drawing with Anthony Ryder.
Flynt’s teaching experience includes numerous workshops
and classes, as well as instructing privately in his
atelier.
Flynt’s subject matter ranges from still-life and trompe
l’oeil, to interiors and figurative works. It has been
said of Flynt that “His works are composed with a
precise allure and rendered in great detail. His colors
are bold and sure; and his use of light and shadows is
compelling.” |
